MEET ERIK

Erik J. Arroyo is a lawyer, born in the Dominican Republic and raised by a single mother in Sarasota. He was the first in his family to graduate high school and feels blessed to be living the American Dream. Erik has dedicated his life to public service, having served as the 75th Mayor of the City of Sarasota, and is currently a City Commissioner for district 3 running for re-election. He is a husband to his high school crush, Victoria, who is now a high school teacher. Erik and Victoria have two children, Ava and Max. 

A THRIVING CAREER

Erik J. Arroyo has had a thriving career in public service. He has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the people of Sarasota, fighting for better schools, safer neighborhoods, and more jobs. Erik has also been a dedicated advocate for the environment, working to protect our natural resources, establishing conservation easements, and advancing The Bay Park initiative, which has resulted in his direct involvement in protecting the most green space in the history of Sarasota. His commitment to public service was recognized by SRQ Magazine when he was awarded the Gold Prize for "Best Elected Sarasota Official" in 2022, as well as placing in other categories in prior and subsequent years.

Erik J. Arroyo's mission is to build a stronger, more vibrant Sarasota that works for everyone. He believes that everyone deserves equal opportunities to succeed, regardless of their background or income level. Erik is committed to working with the community to address the challenges facing our city, from affordable housing and rising property insurance rates to economic development and homelessness. By coming together and working towards a common goal, we can make Sarasota a better place for all.
